Adamson University found National U a tough customer but the Lady Falcons still managed to score an 18-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-10, 15-9 victory over the Lady Bulldogs in the 74th UAAP women's volleyball tournament Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan City. The Lady Falcons, who entered the match nursing a straight-sets loss to Far Eastern University, improved to a 4-2 record to share third place with idle University of Santo Tomas. Sheila Pineda starred for Adamson with 20 points built around three service aces and 19 digs. Pau Soriano had 17 hits on top of four blocks while Mayette Zapanta contributed 16 markers for the Lady Falcons. "We can still bounce back from our struggles. It's still a long season, we'll try to correct our mistakes during the break except Christmas and New Year," said Adamson coach Dulce Pante. Zapanta and Pineda teamed up to help the Lady Falcons turn a 3-3 tie into a 12-6 edge in the deciding fifth set. Adamson never looked back after that. NU skipper Cai Nepomuceno had 21 hits and two blocks while rookie Myla Pablo made 20 points for the Lady Bulldogs, who opened the season with a win over UP but lost five straight games after that to share sixth and seventh spots with UE. The Lady Bulldogs missed Rialen Sante's services as the veteran spiker was rumored to be dropped from the team. — JVP, GMA News
