It took two tries, but the Emilio Aguinaldo College Lady Generals finally clinched the second Final Four berth in the 87th NCAA volleyball tournament Wednesday at their home turf at the EAC gym in Manila.

The Lady Generals survived some tough play by the Jose Rizal University Lady Bombers in the first two frames to formally join season host and the first semi-finalist, the University of Perpetual Help Lady Altas, with a straight sets victory, 26-24, 25-23, 25-17.

Despite the sweep, it took the Lady Generals one hour and 12 minutes to beat the Lady Bombers to make it back to the round of four for the second straight year.
EAC managed to bounce back from their five-set loss to guest team Lyceum of the Philippines University Lady Pirates last Monday to clinch their sixth victory in eight outings.
In the other women’s match, the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Lady Knights kept their post-season hopes alive after trouncing the Mapua Lady Cardinals, 25-14, 25-13, 25-11.

With the win, the Lady Knights improved to a 4-3, win-loss slate, tying the Lady Pirates in the fifth spot.

The Lady Cardinals remained winless after eight games.

In the men’s division, the Letran Knights clobbered the Mapua Cardinals as well,  25-20, 25-17, 25-23, to remain in contention for the last Final Four berth with a 3-4, win-loss record. — AMD/JVP, GMA News
