Ateneo's Gretchen Ho forced a deciding fifth set with a kill after their opponents lost their focus in the fourth frame following a yellow card given by referee Brian Tabanag to Angelica Quinlog, who questioned the two touches called on libero Angelica Vasquez. Obviously affected by the call, the Lady Falcons committed a series of errors that the Lady Eagles capitalized to post a 14-7 lead. Back-to-back hits by Mae Zapanta moved Adamson to within three but a service error by setter May Macatuno sealed Ateneo's win. "A win is a win even though we are off in the other aspects of the game. The positive thing is we achieved our goal of holding a two-game lead to the other teams chasing the number two spot," said Ateneo coach Roger Gorayeb. Angeline Gervacio and Fille Cainglet tallied 19 and 14 points each while rookie Alyssa Valdez had 12 markers for the Lady Eagles. Zapanta and Paulina Soriano led the Lady Falcons with 19 and 18 points, respectively. Far Eastern University scored 3 straight-sets 25-23, 25-17, 25-19 win over National University in the other women's match. In the men's division, Adamson and La Salle tied for fourth to fifth spots with identical 4-3 win-loss marks after beating their respective foes in straight sets. The Falcons dispatched the Blue Eagles, 25-21, 25-14, 25-22, while the Green Archers downed the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 25-21, 25-18, 25-17.
