FEU remains on top of UAAP men's volleyball tournament
Last year's losing finalist Far Eastern University survived National University's gallant stand, 25-22, 27-25, 25-23, 26-24, to fortify its grip of the top spot in the 74th UAAP men's volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City. Team skipper Rodolfo Labrador Jr. played his best game so far this season, registering 20 hits to lead the Tamaraws to their eighth win in 10 outings. Teammate Alexis Faytaren also starred in the said game, which lasted for an hour and 50 minutes, with seven hits and three service aces. "We're really targeting to be number one. As much as possible we want to win our remaining games. But we're taking it one game at a time," said Tamaraws coach George Pascua. The Bulldogs, who suffered their fourth setback against five wins, was led by the 14 points of Danilo Ramos Jr. while Edwin Tolentino and Peter Den Mar Torres scored 13 each. In the other men's game, Adamson stunned defending champion University of Santo Tomas, 25-18, 25-23, 25-20, to improve to 7-3 and in the process dislodging their victims at second place. Adamson's Ron Jay Galang led all scorers with 22 points behind 18 hits and three blocks while Jayson Ramos topped the Tigers with 13 markers. — JVP, GMA News
