UST leads Final 4 cast in SBP U16 national cage tilt

University of Santo Tomas will be one of the semifnalists in the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) National Under-16 Basketball Championship this weekend at the University of Baguio Gym. The Tiger Cubs take on the University of Visayas Baby Lancers with a finals berth at stake in the annual tournament. St. John-Bacolod and Sacred Heart of Jesus-Bacolod clash in the other semifinal bracket to determine the other finalist. UV and St. John occupied the top two slots in Group A as UST and Sacred Heart were the best teams in Group B to set-up the crossover semifinals match-up. UST, coached by Allan Ascue, formalized its Final Four entry after an 80-32 thrashing of St. Bridget School of Batangas at the end of the elimination round. But the Kenneth Pepito-mentored Baby Lancers will be a tough opponent for the Tiger Cubs  on the strength of its reputation as one of Cebu's best basketball programs. — JVP, GMA News
