UAAP Volleyball: FEU, AdU, UST jockey for Final Four positions
Games Wednesday at The Arena 9 a.m. NU vs. UE (m) 10:30 a.m. FEU vs. La Salle (m) 2 p.m. UST vs. UE (w) 4 p.m. Adamson vs. FEU (w) The Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws eye their eighth win, which will put them one away from clinching the third Final Four berth, as they tackle the Adamson University Lady Falcons, in the second round of the women’s division of the 74th UAAP volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan. Touting a 7-4 win-loss slate, the Lady Tams presently occupy solo third place, behind the unbeaten De La Salle University Lady Archers and second-running Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles, and the squad hopes to extend their winning run to three straight, after posting back to back victories against UST and UP early in the second round. Their opponents, the Lady Falcons, are currently tied with the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigresses with identical 6-5 slates, and they hope to bounce back from a loss to the Lady Eagles last Saturday, in order to remain in the hunt for one of the last two Final Four slots. In the same manner, UST will try to stay alive when they take on the University of the East Lady Warriors in the first women’s match at 2 pm. In the men’s division, the league-leading FEU Tamaraws hope to strengthen their hold of the top spot as they go for their tenth win in 12 games against the De La Salle Green Archers in the second match of the day at 10:30 a.m. But 7-4 La Salle will not be easy prey as they intend to score an upset, to keep in stride with the second-running and defending champion UST Growling Tigers, who are currently at 8-3. Meanwhile in the curtain-raiser, 6-5 National University will attempt to break from their present tie with the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons when they tangle with the still winless UE Red Warriors at 9 a.m. — AMD, GMA News
