La Salle-Dasma spikers clinch 1st Petron Ladies beach volley title

La Salle-Dasmariñas' tandem of Jennifer Manzano and Giselle Bembo crushed University of the East's Francislyn Cais and Jessica Paron, 21-9, 21-6, to clinch their first title in the first leg of the 2012 Petron Ladies Beach Volleyball Tournament. The 23-year-old Manzano, a national indoor volleyball player, and Bembo only needed two games to sweep the Lady Warriors in their best-of-three finals series held at De La Salle Health Science Institute campus sand courts in Dasmariñas, Cavite. Manzano and Bembo defeated Letran-II's Justine Mae Tadeo and Melissa Cu in the semifinals. Cais and Paron, the 2011 Battle of Champions winner, advanced into the finals after a hard-earned 13-21, 23-21, 15-9 win over Letran-I duo of Gena Andaya and Sarah Jane Espelita. It was Manzano's fifth Petron beach volley crown in four years as she earned another berth n the season-ending Battle of Champions. — JVP, GMA News
