UAAP: FEU vs UE preview and live-scoring

The undefeated Far Eastern University Tamaraws seek to avoid an upset defeat and keep their record immaculate when they face-off against a winless University of the East Red Warriors team on Sunday, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, in the 75th season of the UAAP. The Tams are the sole loss-less team remaining in the league, but they've won their three games by a grand total of just six points. In their last game against the Adamson University Soaring Falcons, a pair of charities by AdU big man Eric Camson gave FEU just a three-point lead, 65-62. The Falcons then had a chance to force overtime after forcing a steal on an inbounds pass, but luckily for the sons of Morayta, Roider Cabreara missed on a triple, to allow the runners-up of the last two seasons to improve to 3-0. FEU got 35 of their 65 points from their explosive backcourt of RR Garcia and Terrence Romeo, but with center Anthony Hargrove bound to the bench with foul trouble, the team turned to rookie Mac Belo, who finished with nine points and nine rebounds, validating his coaches' trust in him and highlighting FEU's depth on defense. Still, the Tams will likely be shooting for their first decisive win, after sweating it out late on three separate occasions in the young UAAP season. Meanwhile, the UE Red Warriors will be hoping to scalp their foes and claim their first victory, no matter if it comes by a point or a hundred points. The wards of head coach Jerry Codinera gave DLSU a tough fight, getting to within a point on an Adrian Santos fast break score, 51-50 with 6:28 left, but DLSU countered with a 10-0 run, with five coming from rookie sensation Jeron Teng. With the score at 61-50 with 3:01 left, UE got as close as within eight, 63-55, on a Pedrito Galanza, but that was all she wrote for UE, 67-59. Putting points on the board has been a big problem so far for UE, outside of floor general Roi Sumang. The Red Warriors in fact, average the least amount of points scored per game, just 57.0 after two outings. If possible, UE needs to get out and run, and beat opponents in transition, something that's much easier said than done, especially against what's likely to be a suffocating defensive effort by FEU.
