UAAP: NU's appeal granted, Tams and Bulldogs to replay controversial game
In the eyes of the UAAP technical committee, RR Garcia's game-winning lay-up was not as conclusive as others felt it was. After UAAP commissioner Ato Badolato denied an appeal lodged by the National University Bulldogs, the league's technical committee overturned the decision and ordered a replay between the FEU Tamaraws and the NU Bulldogs during a board meeting held Friday. Mark Molina, FEU athletic director, confirmed the news on Twitter, saying that the UAAP board has ordered a replay for September 23.

The UAAP later released a statement saying that their decision was based on the fact that "the pieces of evidences/statements/video used in the deliberation were inconclusive and unclear and most of the points brought up showed that time had expired before the ball was fully released." Last September 2, RR Garcia hit a game-winning lay-up to push the Tams over the Bulldogs 77-75, but some felt that the clock had ran out prior to the ball leaving Garcia's hands. Referees on-site decided that the shot had in fact counted, which was later confirmed by Commissioner Badolato, but NU doggedly pursued the case, elevating their grievance to the technical committee. - AMD, GMA NewsThe FEU-NU rematch will be on Sept 23.
