Major League Pinoys
Only four Filipinos have so far been part of Major League baseball, starting in 1956 when Robert "Bobby" Balcena joined the Cincinnati Reds, according to titansbaseball.org. The other three: • Bobby Chouinard, who played with the Baltimore Orioles, the Oakland Athletics, the Milwaukee Brewers, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and Colorado Rockies from 1996 to 2001 • Benny Agbayani, who played with the New York Mets, the Colorado Rockies, the Boston Red Sox from 1998 to 2002 • Chris Aguila, who joined the Florida Marlins in 2004 and still plays in their outfield. Only Chouinard was born in the Philippines, in Olongapo, but since his father was an American serviceman, he grew up in Oregon. The other three, though born in the US, all had Filipino parents. Balcena was born August 1, 1925, in San Pedro, California. Agbayani was born December 28, 1971, in Honolulu, Hawaii. And Aguila was born February 29, 1979, in Redwood City, California. - GMANews.TV
