The Adamson University Women's Volleyball prevailed in a five-set thriller on Saturday, defeating the taller National University squad, 15-25 25-21 25-22 18-25 15-10, in the opening game of the UAAP Season 75 Women's Volleyball Tournament.

The Bulldogs looked strong at the get-go, taking the first set 25-15, before Adamson found their form taking the next two sets.

In the fourth set, the Bulldogs started the game with several blocks and aces to bury the Falcons in a 21-6 hole. Adamson's Pau Soriano tried to lead the comeback, as Sheila Pineda cut the lead to five, 23-18, but it would be the last time the Lady Falcons scored to give NU the set, 25-18.

In the deciding fifth set, Dindin Santiago helped establish an easy 6-3 lead for NU. Hits from Urdas and Pablo made it 8-4, before Adamson turned on the defense, stringing blocks together to inch closer, 9-7.

After an NU timeout, aces from Pineda finally gave the Lady Falcons the lead, 11-10. Another hit by Pineda above the towering Santiago put Adamson ahead, 12-10, before Villanueva followed it up with another kill, 13-10.

NU went to Santiago to spark a recovery, but the former Tigress was met by an Adamson wall for an emphatic denial. In the end, it was Soriano provided the lethal kill for Adamson to end the fifth set, 15-10.
