After upsetting the defending champions De La Salle University Lady Spikers last Sunday, the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses fell to National University, 25-16 25-23 23-25 25-13, on Wednesday at the Arena in San Juan.

Dindin Santiago powered NU with 24 points off 18 kills and three aces, while Myla Pablo added 18. It was a team effort for the hosts, as Aiko Urdas and Maricar Nepomuceno also chipped in 12 and 11, respectively, for the team's first win after an opening day loss to Adamson on Saturday.

The Tigresses fell as veteran Maru Banaticla struggled for just three points. Maika Ortiz, who was instrumental in the team's five-set win against DLSU, was also limited to only seven. Team captain Judy Caballejo also only had 10, as Pamela Lastimosa led the team with 12.

An ace by NU's Ivy Jusel Perez made it 24-13 in the fourth set, before a UST error ended the match for the Lady Bulldogs.

In the earlier match, Ateneo de Manila University continued with their hot start after defeating Far Eastern University in a five-set thriller on Saturday, this time posting an easy three-set win against the University of the East, 25-16 25-13 25-13.

Fille Cainglet led the Lady Eagles with 13 points off 10 kills, two service aces and a block while Alyssa Valdez chipped in 10.

It was the second straight loss for UE, after dropping their opening game against UP last Sunday.

Sarina Bulan led the Lady Warriors with six points, while Leuseht Dawis added five. - RAF, GMA News
