UAAP: FEU, NU notch wins in men's volleyball

The Far Eastern University men's volleyball team defeated De La Salle University in straight sets, 25-23 25-17 26-24, on Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Tied at 23-all in the third set, a DLSU error gave FEU match point, before John Ian Depamaylo struck to give the Tamaraws the victory.

Arvin Avila led the Tamaraws with 16 points with two service aces, while Karl Ian Dela Calzada added 13.

 

None of the Green Spikers scored in double digits, with Chris Antonio leading DLSU with nine points.

 

In the only non-sweep of the day, the National University Bulldogs overcame an early scare from the University of the East, 23-25 25-15 25-23 25-16.

Up 23-16 in the third set, consecutive errors from UE gave NU the victory.

 

Jan Berlin Paglinawan paced the Bulldogs with 20 points off 15 kills, three aces, and two blocks.

 

Homer Lauresta and Angelo Torres shared the load for the Warriors with 14 and 13, respectively, as UE absorbed their second loss in three games.  - AMD, GMA News
