Toyota Otis Sparks used a tough defense in demolishing Harbour Centre Port Masters, 84-77, on Thursday to win Game 1 of their best-of-five PBL Silver Cup semifinals series at the Emilio Aguinaldo College Gym in Manila. The Sparks erased a 72-59 Port Masters lead in the last 6:23, limiting Harbour Center to just two field goals while Patrick Cabahug connected for two treys and guards Marvin Cruz and Christian Coronel combined for 11 points for Toyota Otis. "We didn't lose our composure. The boys just played from the heart," Toyota Otis coach Louie Alas said. Alas also credited the victory on Cabahug's defense on JC Intal, who was limited to five points, all made in the first half. Intal only had a 2-of-12 shooting from the field. "Part of the game plan is to limit the offense of JC," Alas added. Cruz finished with 19 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and a block in 28 minutes of playing for Toyota Otis. Coronel added 15 points. - GMANews
