"Thank GOD! Finally may Coach na ang Letran and it's official! Coach Caloy Garcia!," the elder Alas tweeted out Tuesday.
Earlier in December of last year, Inboundpass wrote that Garcia had the edge to become the new Letran head coach. He told Inboundpass, "That's my school before, so it will be a great pleasure to coach your school.
"Right now I'm just waiting for their final decision whether they hire me or not."

Louie Alas had vacated the position last year in order to spend more time with his family, after coaching the Knights to the Season 88 NCAA Finals, where they lost in three games to the San Beda College Red Lions.
Garcia's prior collegiate experience was as head coach of the St. Benilde Blazers from 2005 to 2007, a span in which the team went 9-31.
Garcia also served a stint as the PBA's Rain or Shine Elasto Painters' head coach, before sliding down to the position of assistant under current head coach Yeng Guiao. - AMD, GMA News
