UAAP: Ateneo slays Adamson to set a finals date with La Salle

It's Ateneo versus La Salle anew, as the Lady Eagles entered the Finals after a straight sets win over Adamson, 25-23, 25-23, 26-24, Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Ateneo women's volleyball team turned down a driven Adamson squad Saturday, winning in straight sets, 25-23 25-23 26-24, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. With the win, Ateneo set up a Finals battle against the two-time defending champions De La Salle Lady Spikers.
It is the second straight time that Ateneo will face La Salle. Last season, DLSU won their title at the expense of the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Falcons were ahead in much of the second half of the third set, but a late unforced error plus a surge from the Ateneans made them clinch the set and the match at 26-24. Alyssa Valdez had another monster game for Ateneo, scoring 22 points off 20 kills. Team captain Dzi Gervacio had 10, while Fille Cainglet chipped in eight.
Adamson team captain Pau Soriano led the Falcons with 17 points, while Sheila Pineda and Luisa Zapanta added nine each. — ELR/AMD, GMA News
