Two teams will try to rise above the .500 mark, when the University of the East Red Warriors collide with the host team Adamson University Soaring Falcons, Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The UE Red Warriors (1-1) got a signature win last Saturday, versus the NU Bulldogs, as Roi Sumang broke a 67-all deadlock with three seconds to go, by nailing a three-pointer plus the foul, in a bounce-back from their opening day loss against FEU.

After center Charles Mammie failed to make an impact against the Tams, due to foul trouble, he played 35 minutes in their last game, and hauled in 20 rebounds, 13 on the offensive end, to help his side to a 27-15 edge in that category. Though NU still had more second-chance points, it at least gave Mammie momentum, heading into another import match-up versus Falcon Ingrid Sewa, himself no slouch on the glass.

Meanwhile, the Adamson Falcons (1-1) underwent a roller-coaster ride of a loss versus UST, also on Saturday, before losing 67-62. They seemed in command through the early part of the third quarter, but the PCCL champs woke up from their slumber to unleash a 26-5 run over the last two periods, for a comfortable 55-43 buffer.

Adamson got within two thanks to a late barrage of triples, 64-62, but with 30 seconds left, Jeric Teng and Aljon Mariano were able to put the game away with clutch hits.

Turnovers triggered the Falcons' demise, as they logged 12 of their turnovers in the second half, including seven in the fourth period alone. That resulted in 10 turnover points for UST over that span, enough to help them overturn the deficit.

Game starts at 2pm.
