NCAA: Letran player and wife shot, latter declared dead

Colegio de San Juan de Letran Knight Franz Dysam and his common-law wife were shot at the corner of N. Domingo and Araneta Avenue in San Juan City, after the Knights' NCAA game on Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Arena, with Dysam's wife later succumbing to her injuries.

In an interview with DZBB, San Juan City police chief Senior Superintendent Bernard Tambaoan earlier narrated that the player was responsive, but that the common-law wife was in a more serious condition.
"Critical ang babae, sana ma-pass ang critical stage. Ang lalaki nakakausap," said Tambaoan.
Dysam's common-law wife Joan was later declared "expired" at 8:00 p.m., according to Letran ManCom member Fr. Vic Calvo, while the player remained stable and conscious. GMA News Online obtained the exclusive report from fullcourtfresh.com's Merck Maguddayao, who got the confirmation from Fr. Calvo at the San Juan Medical Center.The Letran Twitter account added that the cager sustained a total of six gunshot wounds in the chest, hip and thigh areas. Dysam's common-law wife was only shot once, but it was fatal.

Dysam will be transferred to the UST Medical Center for further treatment, according to the school's official Twitter account.

The incident happened after Letran's 61-52 win over the Lyceum Pirates. Dysam had two rebounds and an assist in his nine minutes on the court. — LBG/ELR, GMA News
