The Far Eastern University Tamaraws shoot to sweep the first round with only the Adamson University Soaring Falcons left in their way, Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
FEU (6-0) finished the first quarter of their last game down 21-18 to the UST Growling Tigers, but they managed to settle down and proceeded to outscore their foes the rest of the way. Despite a 24-to-9 disadvantage in attempts at the foul line, the Tamaraws leaned on their weapon of choice, the outside shot, and they connected from deep, 11-of-30, versus just 2-of-16 by the Tigers.

More than any other team, Far Eastern leans heavily on perimeter points. They norm a whopping 40.3 markers outside the paint, with the next-best team just shy of the 30-point mark. And they can do this because they've taken and made more three-pointers than anyone else, 56-of-170, for 32.9 percent. What's also amazing is that they're also the best team at defending the three-pointer, giving up just 21.5 percent on long-range tries.
Adamson (3-3) on the other hand nearly forged a stunning rally at the expense of the DLSU Green Archers, coming back from a 65-50 deficit to knot the game with 1:20 left. However, in a controversial moment, one of the game officials, who has since been suspended for three game days, whistled for an unsportsmanlike foul on Lloyd Abrigo, which changed the complexion of the game with 15 seconds left. UAAP commissioner Chito Loyzaga has since apologized for the gaffe, but it still remains as an "L" in the Falcons' record.

With that said, the Falcons have become the kings of the comeback, successfully pulling off that feat against the NU Bulldogs prior to their DLSU game. However, they wouldn't have to be in that position if they could just execute a bit better on offense. The host team is dead last in free throw percentage, just 55.2 percent from the line, and turn the ball over the most, 17.8 instances per game. What they are good at though is getting the ball inside, where they're hitting close to 50 percent, best in the UAAP, and that has been their battle plan late.
Game starts at 2pm.
