The request for a TRO was filed by Anna Dominique "Mikee" Bartolome, a University of the Philippines freshman who transferred from University Santo Tomas High School.
The 17-year-old was not given a release by her former school to suit up for the UP swimming team in Season 76. The UAAP, through its representative, Atty. Rene Ma. Villa and the Bartolomes, represented by Atty. Alfredo Jacinto met on Monday. The parties, along with co-defendant UST, were asked to submit their separate memoranda at 12pm on Tuesday.
The grant comes a day before the UAAP's deadline for deliberation of eligibility of swimmers who will be participating in this season's competition. Bartolome will be part of the four-man team representing UP in the backstroke category.
Pending the judgement on Bartolome's prayer to have the court declare the UAAP two-year residency rule null and void, a hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11, to decide the tanker's request for a preliminary prohibitory injunction to replace the TRO and a preliminary mandatory injunction to command UST to release the UP Sports Science major. — AMD, GMA News
