UAAP: Perasol's confrontation with heckler earns him one-game suspension

(Updated 2:47pm) Ateneo Blue Eagles head coach Bo Perasol has been suspended for one game due to his confrontation with a La Salle fan in their game last Sunday.

The UAAP Board of Trustees issued a one-game suspension to the coach Wednesday, which UAAP secretary-treasurer Malou Isip later confirmed.

"The mission-vision of the UAAP is to promote ideal sportsmanship...we wanted all players and coaches to be consistent with that," Isip added.

The La Salle fan in question on the other hand, later identified as JJ Atayde, brother to DLSU supporter and blogger Tony "The Green Mind" Atayde, and cousin to DLSU's UAAP board representative Henry Atayde was banned from UAAP for the rest of the current season, in a move Isip described as "fair," citing past incidents as precedents.

JJ Atayde however prior to this ruling, had already voluntarily to forego attending UAAP games for the rest of the season.

While the suspension is in theory, appealable, Isip said that barring any new arguments or evidence, it would likely be unsuccessful.

The defending champions are set to play the UE Red Warriors on Sunday. UE meanwhile will be without off-the-bench scorer Ralf Olivares.
