UAAP: Despite residency rule TRO, swimmer Mikee Bartolome still can't suit up for UP

Despite getting a temporary restraining order against the UAAP's new residency rule, University of the Philippines student Anna "Mikee" Bartolome will not be able to represent her school due to the old residency rule, UAAP secretary-treasurer Malou Isip said, Wednesday.

Isip: TRO on residency rule will be respected. But UST's "no release policy" will still keep M Bartolome frm competing under the old rules.

According to Isip, while the league will respect the TRO on the new residency rule, that means the league's old rules will instead be in effect, with UST, the high school she graduated from, opting not to release Bartolome.

Under the new version of the rule, a UAAP high school graduate enrolling in a different college has to sit out two seasons as a residency period unless he or she gets a release from the high school. Previously, that amount of time was just one season, with an option for release.

The hearing for an injunction on the new residency rule and for an injunction to secure Bartolome's release won't be until September 11.
