The National University Bulldogs look to further lock up the top spot in the standings, while the De La Salle University Green Archers have plans of forging a three-way tie, Sunday at the MOA Arena.

Round one encounter

The NU Bulldogs stormed out to a 20-9 first quarter lead, but the DLSU Green Archers refused to let them blow the game wide open, constantly erasing the big lead of their foes.

At the start of the fourth, the Bulldogs made another huge push, a 14-2 run that gave last season's hosts a 57-44 buffer. However, it was their turn to go silent, as La Salle countered with a 12-2 run, to get within three with 17 seconds left. That was as far as they could go though as Gelo Alolino and Emmanuel Mbe put the game away, 63-61.

What's at stake

The FEU Tamaraws won Saturday against the Adamson Falcons to improve to 9-4, and a win by La Salle (8-4) against NU (9-3) could create a three-way tie for the top spot. Both teams still have Final Four aspirants left on their schedule after this game - the Archers will look to topple the UST Growling Tigers, while the Bulldogs draw the defending champs ADMU Blue Eagles.

NU player to watch

Entering their last match against UP, Bobby Ray Parks' numbers across the board were down, especially with regards to his scoring and shooting. However, versus the Maroons, Parks showed off his complete arsenal, posting 30 points in 34 minutes on 12-of-20 shooting, along with 10 rebounds and five assists. When Parks catches fire like that, he's pretty difficult to stop, especially when you factor in the possibility of his supporting cast, which has been strong as of late, ready to step up if needed.

DLSU player to watch

Jason Perkins continues to shine for the Green Archers, as the broad forward showed off his range in their win against UE. Though he's a power forward, and a terrific rebounder from down low, the first year player demonstrated his ability to step out and hit three-pointers with a perfect 3-of-3 clip, part of his 22-point, nine-rebound, two-block outing.

Quietly, he's been the team's MVP with 12.8 points (50 percent from three-point, 51.8 percent from the field), 9.7 rebounds and 0.8 blocks. However, they'll need a big outing from him to deal with Parks.
