'Pinoy Superman' wins Pacquiao 10-Ball Open Billiards
Pool player Roberto Gomez showed why he earned the monicker "Pinoy Superman" by topping the 3rd Manny Pacquiao 10-ball Open Billiards Tournament held in General Santos City. Gomez kept his undeafeated slate and downed Dondon Razalan, 11-6, in the finals that ended early Thursday morning at Arthur's Billiard Hall. "Kahit magaling si Dondon (Razalan) naunahan ko siya. Sabihin na rin nating nakatulong na waiting na lang ako sa finals," said the 28-year-old Gomez, one of the cue artists of Bugsy Promotions. Gomez, who is from Zamboanga City but is currently based in Quezon City, pocketed the P300,00 top prize. A bye in the opening round did not affect Gomez's game as he disposed of his opponents Gil Catamura, Rey Maniklin, Arnold Ramirez, Arnel Suscano, and Razalan to gain the first finals slot. Razalan gained a rematch against Gomez in the finals by defeating Jarry "Putol" Pelayo of the Negros Billiard Stable (NBS), 8-5. Razalan's runner-up finish is worth P100,000 while Pelayo's third place spot gave him P25,000. - GMANews.TV
