La Salle-Dasma wins NCRAA women's basketball crown
The La Salle-Dasmariñas Lady Patriots turned to the heroics of Genalyn Alday to capture the 14th Petron-National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) women's basketball crown. In a press statement released on Tuesday, the league said Alday scored the winning free-throws in Game 2 of their best-of-three championship series as the Lady Patriots turned back the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 72-70. Alday's two free-throws with 35 ticks to go settled the issue in favor of the Patriots after the charities shattered a 70-all tie. In Game 1, the Patriots took the upperhand in their best-of-three series when they prevailed with an 84-63 thumping of the Lady Maroons. Meanwhile, the Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Lady Generals earlier came away with a 72-53 whipping of the St. Francis Lady Doves in the battle for third place. In junior action, Adriel de Leon delivered 22 points, while Earl Limboy had 21 in powering the Arellano Baby Chiefs to the crown with a 99-74 beating of Olivarez High School. Last week, the Arellano University Chiefs banked on the steady free-throw shooting of Gio Ciriacruz in the endgame to claim their first-ever men's title with a 67-64 win over the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals. - GMANews.TV
