AUF wins 61st Nat’l Inter-Collegiate Basketball crown

Angeles University Foundation Great Danes defeated AMA Computer University, 87-81, to bag the 61st National Inter-Collegiate Basketball Championship at Ibajay Multi-Purpose Hall in Ibajay, Aklan. In a press statement Saturday from the organizers, AUF won the title for the first time in the inter-collegiate side of the National Students Basketball Championship, and the first for Eric Gascon in his first try as coach for the Great Danes. "It's a great feeling. First coaching job, first championship," said Gascon in the press statement. Nida Sunga, athletic director of AUF, together with Gascon, received the championship trophy for the team. With the win, the Great Danes earned the right to play in the 5th Asian Universities Basketball Championship (AUBC) slated April 16 to 23 in Daet, Camarines Norte. University of Baguio nipped St. Vincent de Paul College, 105-102, to settle for third place.- GMANews.TV
