Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao ran into another little snag in his training on Monday morning in Los Angeles, California (Monday evening in Manila). After getting a light scratch near the eye during his first sparring session last week, this time he had leg cramps. As usual, he was out of his apartment by 7 a.m. to jog through Griffith Park with some of sparring mates. As in past days, this started out as an easy, routine jog for him — except that this time it was colder, with the temperature falling to 15 degrees Celsius, and some parts of his jogging trail were fogged up. The dip in temperature proved a bit too much even for the champ, who had to stop because of leg cramps. "Kulang sa masahe (I need a massage)," Pacquiao told GMA's Lala Roque in an interview after his run. "Sobrang lamig kasi dun sa taas, so hindi maiwasan yan (It was too cold up there, so he can't avoid having cramps)," his trainer Buboy Fernandez said. "Magkakaroon talaga siya ng pulikat. Pero wala naman problema sa training yun." Fernandez added that Pacquiao has already achieved 95 percent of his peak condition. Pacquiao explained that his strength comes not just from his intense workout at the Wild Card Gym but also from his nutritious meals back in his apartment, prepared by Nonoy Neri, one of his training assistants. After jogging, Neri told GMA, Pacquiao would have a meal consisting of soup, made with either beef or chicken, and amplaya (bitter melon), and rice. Then the champ takes it easy for awhile. On Tuesday, he took some time out to pluck his guitar and sing the theme song from GMA's Daisy Siete. - GMANews.TV
