UAAP: Tigers haul offensive boards late, survive Adamson

The University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers secured four offensive rebounds in the final minute of the game to come out with a 61-59 win against the Adamson University Falcons on Saturday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Louie Vigil led UST with 13 points and eight boards, while Ed Daquioag added 11. Kevin Ferrer and Enzo Subido had eight each. Karim Abdul had two points from the line with less than five minutes of playing time.
Tied at 52-all heading into the fourth period, Axel Inigo and Don Trollano pushed the Falcons ahead after a pair of baskets. The Tigers responded with a 6-1 spurt, reclaiming the lead at the 5:27 mark, before Jansen Rios converted inside to give Adamson a one-point edge, 59-58.
The two teams were held scoreless in the next three minutes, before Louie Vigil canned an elbow jumper at the 1:51 mark.
In the final minute, a more active UST squad secured four offensive boards to run down the time, before Aljon Mariano was fouled with 10 ticks to go.
Adamson was forced to play the fouling game, sending Aljon Mariano to the line with 7.3 remaining. Mariano missed the first before securing the second to put the Tigers ahead by 2, 61-59.
After a timeout, the Falcons went to Polican for a hurried trey, which sailed long.
Jansen Rios had 22 points and eight boards for the Falcons, while Don Trollano posted 16 points and 10 boards. Axel Inigo had 11. - GMA News
