Reyes is PBL Player of the Week
For helping Henkel Sista post back-to-back victories last week, guard Ryan Reyes was chosen as PBL Player of the Week, according to a league statement Sunday. "Hulog siya ng langit sa amin," said Super Sealers coach Caloy Garcia on Reyes who has helped them level their record at 4-4 after a dismal 0-4 start. In Henkel Sista's second meeting with the San Miguel-Magnolia Beverage Masters, Reyes played for only 17 minutes but still finished with 20 points. He missed just one in eight attempts from the field but went perfect in five trips at the 15-foot line. Aside from his offensive foray, Reyes showed that he can also be counted on in defense, pulling off a conference best five steals as the Super Sealers took a 67-61 decision. Two days later, Reyes again was instrumental in leading coach Caloy Garcia's squad to an 82-70 overtime decision against the Toyota Balintawak Roadkings. Pitted against smaller defender, Reyes displayed his best shooting form by converting all his six attempts from the field to finish with 16 points. Though he fouled out late in the fourth period, it can not be denied that it was Reyes intensity and timely basket that help kept the game close in regulation play. "I'm still adjusting to the weather but I love playing here. The level of competition is high and I like the physical game," said Reyes, who in 2005 had brief stint with the Cebuana Lhuillier sponsored national team. - GMANews.TV
