San Sebastian beats Feati, 81-74, in Nike basketball


San Sebastian College (SSC)-Manila repulsed Feati University, 81-74, to bag the second quarterfinals berth in Group C in the 2007 Nike Summer League basketball tournament at the Far Eastern University Gym in Manila. According to a statement released on Friday, Gilbert Bulawan and two other players scored in double figures for the Stags, who registered their fourth win in five outings. Bulawan finished 21 points and 12 rebound to lead the Stags to victory over the Sea Hawks. Pamboy Raymundo and Jimbo Aquino contributed 19 and 12 points respectively for the Recto-based SSC. The Stags, who are now being handled by George Gallent, will meet Polytechnic University of the Philippines next. The Stags, however, can afford to lose that game as they will finish in a tie with Feati in the final standings with 4-2 win-loss card. They also have an edge over the Sea Hawks via winner over the other rule. Marvin Agacer and Erickson Gatchalian carried the fight for the Sea Hawks with 21 and 13 points respectively. Meanwhile, the University of Perpetual Help Dalta System edged Emilio Aguinaldo College, 59-50, to improve its record to 3-3 in Group C. Fritz Bauzon,Ronald Reyes and Mike Kong combined for 38 points for the Altas of coach Bai Cristobal. Bauzon led all scorers with 14 points, followed by Reyes and Kong with 10 points each. In the women's division, Adamson University downed University of the East, 73-60, and reigning UAAP champion Univesity of Santo Tomas subdued National University, 77-70, to clinch the top two spots in Group A. - GMANews.TV
