NCAA juniors basketball: Staglets waylay Light Bombers, 109-96

John Noble shot 29 points while siblings Kelvin and Kristoffer Alas combined for 40 points as the Letran Squires smothered Perpetual Help Altalettes, 117-72. The Staglets and Squires, both with a 3-1 slate, remained tied at the top of the six-team field. The Light Bombers couldn't stop Buenafe's awesome offensive by allowing him to score 20-of-34 from the field. Buenafe also hauled down 11 rebounds and dished out 10 assists in 34 minutes of play. The 6-foot-2 swingman shattered the previous high of 40 points set by Letran Squire Kelvin Alas set last week when the Squires downed the Cubs, 106-92. Arvie Bringas had a double-double showing of 26 points and 12 rebounds for the Staglets, which won their last two assignments. The Light Bombers, who got 30 points from Bon Jovi Cipriano, suffered their second defeat in four outings. With the Alas brothers and Noble leading the attack, the Squires dominated the Altalettes from the opening buzzer en route to stretching their winning streak to three games.
