Es Twenty Six wins 3rd leg of 2007 triple crown series

Es Twenty Six capitalized on the absence of dominant Ibarra and topped the third and final leg of the 2007 Triple Crown Championship Sunday at the San Lazaro Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite. Chosen as the top favorite among nine runners after Ibarra, winner of the first two legs that underwent an operation to address a chipped bone injury, Es Twenty Six responded well to the prodding of jockey Dominador Borbe who kept his mount within striking distance in the first stage of the 2,000-meter race. After the jockey sensed early race leader Afternoon Delight was losing speed, Borbe whipped his mount in the second stage and Es Twenty Six galloped to take the lead. Golden Sutter, ridden by jockey Jonathan Hernandez, tried to keep pace but just could not overtake Es Twenty Six, which finished the race with a five-horse length winning margin and a winning 2:06.5 time (24'-23'- 26- 25-27'). Es Twenty Six's victory is worth P1.8 out of the P3 million cash prize from the Philippine Racing Commission. Golden Sutter finished in second spot while Henry D'Eight reached the finish line for third and I did it My Way as fourth placer.- GMANews.TV
