Manny Pacquiao ranks 63rd in ESPN's list of world's most famous athletes

Senator Manny Pacquiao continues to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the finest athletes in the world, ranking 63rd in ESPN's "World Fame 100."

Pacquiao ranked 59th in the 2017 list.

The list, released last May, features the most prominent figures in sports, six of which are boxers.

American boxer Floyd Mayweather ranked highest at 14, followed by England's Anthony Joshua (46), Mexico's Canelo Alvarez (58), and Kazakhstan's Gennady Golovkin (61).

Pacquiao outranked Wladimir Klitschko of Ukraine (74).

Dotun Akintoye writes praise for Pacquiao, comparing his weight-division-hopping dynamism to Henry Armstrong's. He additionally expressed his admiration for Pacquiao's intention to keep on fighting despite his wealth, political career, and recent loses in the ring.

ESPN ranks the athletes based on Google trend score, social media following and endorsement dollars.

Portuguese Football star Cristiano Ronaldo is number one with a search score of 100, endorsements worth $40 million, and a social media following of 121.7 million. At his heels is NBA's LeBron James, who has a search score of 63, endorsements worth $55 million, and a social media following of 40.8 million.

Completing the top 10 are Argentina's Lionel Messi, Brazil's Neymar, Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer, American golfer Tiger Woods, NBA's Kevin Durant, Spanish  tennis power house Roger Nadal, NBA's Stephen Curry, and American golfer Phil Mickelson.

Serena Williams is the highest ranking female athlete at 12. Only 12 female athletes made the cut, including Serena's sister Venus at 48. — Aya Tantiangco, GMA News
