2 swimming golds lift RP tally to 20 at SEA Games
The Philippines has so far garnered three gold medals at the 24th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, with Filipino swimmers Ryan Abejo and Miguel Molina adding on Friday one each to the gold earned on Thursday (December 6) by Joey Barba in the men's downhill mountain cycling. The twin victories put the Philippines' medal tally to 20 â three golds, eight silvers, and nine bronzes, as of this posting. Abejo got his gold in the men's 200-meter backstroke and Molina got his in the 400-meter individual medley, both events held on Friday. Finishing after Abejo were two Singaporeans â Zach Ong in second and Mingzhe Marcus Cheah in third. Finishing after Molina were Muhammad Nasution of Indonesia in second and Zhi Cong Lim of Singapore in third. Of the 20 medals, three are gold, eight are silver, and nine are bronze, according to results posted in the official website of the event. Five of the medals come from athletics:
- A silver for Julius Sermona in the men's 5,000-meter run
- A bronze for Eliezer Suang in the men's shot put
- A bronze for Jobert Delicano in the men's triple jump
- A silver for Mary Grace Milgar in the women's 400-meter hurdles
- A silver for Rosie Villarito in the women's javelin throw
- A silver for Eusebio Quiñones in the men's cross-country
- A bronze for Nino Surban in the same event
- A bronze for Baby Marites Bitbit in the women's cross-country
- A silver for Marcus Valda in the men's freestyle 84-kilogram event
- A bronze for Ma. Cristina Vergara in the women's freestyle 51-kilogram event
- A bronze for Maribel Jambora in the women's freestyle 48-kilogram event
- A bronze for Emerito Concepcion in the men's 10-meter air rifle event
- A silver for the men's trap team composed of Eric Ang, Carlos Carag, and Jethro Dionisio
- A silver for Jacqueline de Guzman in the women's skeet
- A silver for the men's skeet team composed of Paul Brian Rosario, Patricio Bernardo, and Gabriel Tong
- A bronze for the men's hoop sepak takraw team composed of Danilo Alipan, Joel Carbonilla, Harrison Castanares, Hector Memarion, Jerome Santiago, and Metodio Suico Jr.
- A bronze for the women's hoop sepak takraw team composed of Irene Apdon, Deseree Autor, Sarah Jane Catain, Gelyn Evora, Josefina Maat, and Rhea Padrigo
