Pinoys beat Thais, 94-53, for men's caging gold at SEA Games

The Filipino cagers gave the Thais a decisive beating, 94-53, in the men's basketball tournament of the 24th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. The win gave the Philippines its 38th gold medal which lifted it back into fifth place, in the midst of a brewing controversy concerning officiating of RP-Thailand boxing and taekwondo matches. The undefeated Filipinos never gave the Thais a chance as they ruled the quarters 25-14, 40-28, 65-40, before sealing their victory at 94-53. Leading the RP cagers were Jayson William and Beau Belga with 14 points each and Jervy Cruz and Al Vergara with 12 points each. On the Thai said, the scoring burden was shared by Piyapong Piroon with 17 points, Chaiwat Kaedum with 15, and N. Vivattanapongpetch with 12. - Mark Merueñas, GMANews.TV
