Noosa Shoes (formerly Blustar Detergent) will hold a tryouts on starting Wednesday and Thursday (January 10 and d11) at the Arellano Gym in Manila in preparation for the coming Philippine Basketball League (PBL) tournament. Coach Leo Isaac will conduct the tryout from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, the team said in a statement on Tuesday. The Dioceldo Sy-owned Noosa is determined to form a competitive team that would return to the premier amateur basketball league with a bang. Before taking a leave of absence in 2004, Noosa Shoes was a perennial semifinalist, along with Welcoat Paints and Hapee Toothpaste. "We hope to accomplish our unfinished business in the PBL, that's why we have to form a formidable squad this time," Sy said. Noosa Shoes has never won a title in more than six years of participation but was admired for its never-say-die attitude. This early, Isaac is eyeing the services of some of the country's finest collegiate players. "There are a lot of talented players around, so I'm confident we can form a formidable unit," Sy, a former PBL chairman, said. "Of course, we will also tap several veteran players to provide stability to the team." - GMANews.TV
