Kirk Long to debut as Eagles’ baseball team member Sunday

Kirk Long, the spitfire Ateneo de Manila University guard, will be making his debut as a member of the Eagle's baseball team even as University of Santo Tomas start its title-retention campaign in the University Athletic Association of the Philippine (UAAP) baseball tournament on Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium. The UST Tigers will open its campaign against come backing De La Salle University Archers in the opening game set at 8 a.m. De La Salle will be slugging it out against the Tigers after a year of hiatus brought about by a one-year suspension imposed on the team. The Archers were meted the suspension after they were found to have consciously fielded ineligible players in their basketball team. UST will be bannered anew by slam-bang pitcher Jon Jon Robles, who carried the Tigers against University of the Philippines in last season's finals. Long - a long-time member of the team, which the International Little League Association of Manila (ILLAM) sent to different tilts outside of the Philippines - will be part of the Eagles squad. The team would try to invigorate the Ateneo's campaign in the tournament. All of the Eagle's won game last year were forfeited after the league found out that their pitcher Vladimir Eguia was playing without the proper eligibility. And this year, the Eagles will be starting their campaign versus Adamson University in Sunday's scheduled second game set at 11 a.m. This will be followed by the match between National University Bulldogs and UP Maroons at 2 p.m. - GMANews.TV
