Ateneo rules men's, women's 1st round of UAAP football
The Ateneo de Manila University's men and women' football squads are proving to be this season's teams to beat in Season 70 of the United Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) as they finished their first-round campaign on top of the standings on Sunday at the Ateneo campus. The Blue Eagles blanked the University of the East Red Warriors, 1-0, on Sunday on a goal by Gino Tongson in the 28th minute in order for the squad to post a 4-1 win-loss card (12 points) at the end of the first round, according to a UAAP statement issued on Tuesday. The Lady Eagles were held in a scoreless tie by the De La Salle Lady Archers.
