Lady Generals beat Lady Jaguars in NCRAA volleyball
The Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Lady Generals asserted their supremacy in women's volleyball on Monday at the 15th Smart-National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) tournament held at the San Andres Gym. Marivic Lomboy provided the crucial spikes, which carried the Lady Generals to a 25-4, 25-21, 25-12 beating of the Philippine School of Business Administration (PSBA) Lady Jaguars. Lomboy joined hands in the final set with Sigrid Vargas in leading the Lady Generals to a 9-4 lead. The Lady Generals' sixth win in seven matches, achieved in only 50 minutes, enabled them to move in contention for the top semifinals slot with their sixth win in seven matches. They are now way ahead of the Rizal Technological University (RTU) Lady Blue Thunders, who won over City Colleges of Manila Merlions, 25-21, 25-13, 25-20. The Lady Blue Thunders, led by Glenda Gapay, broke free from a 7-all deadlock in the final set and went on to post their fifth straight victory. The Asian College of Science and Technology (ACSAT) Lady Lightnings improved their standing to 3-3 after winning over over Arellano University, 25-22, 25-20, 25-20. In men's basketball games, the action resumes on Tuesday with the defending champion Arellano University Chiefs fighting it out with the RTU Blue Thunders at 11 a.m. at the Arellano University Gym. The Chiefs tote a 7-2 card, and are in contention for a second Final Four semifinal seat.
