Filipino athlete bags second Guinness for jump rope record

Filipino athlete Ryan Alonzo, also known as “Skipman,” has logged another record under the jump role crossover category earning him his second  Guinness World Record.

According to Mark Salazar's report on "24 Oras," the 35-year-old has completed 3,731 consecutive crossovers or crossing the arms in and out while skipping over the rope.

“In this record you cannot chip, you just have to do as much as you can consecutively,” he said.

Alonzo’s previous record was 2,405 consecutive crossovers.

Prior to his Guinness certification this month, he broke the record for double underskips in October 2021 where he was recorded with almost 41,000 in just 12 hours.

According to him, extreme endurance is needed for this sport which he said he developed when he was practicing for a marathon.

Meanwhile, he still aims to break more records.

“Because I feel the impact that I was able to do to people. I feel that there are a lot of people who started jump rope or any fitness activity because we were able to drive awareness,” he said.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA News
