UFL: Nomads seek top spot; Global, Pasargad collide

Nomads Auction Manila aims to follow up its 3-2 win over Pasargad last week, when it takes on Navy Red Juice on Saturday in the United Football League (UFL) at the University of Makati field.   The Nomads battle Navy, which finished last place in Division 1 last season, at 2 p.m. while Global and Pasargad take the field at 4 p.m. in a battle of teams that dropped their first games of the season. Opening-day winners Loyola Meralco and Kaya will see action on Sunday while Stallion faces defending champion Air Force on Tuesday. Nomads will bank on the attacking duo of Steve Borril and Phil Connoly, who scored the game winning goal against Pasargad, against Navy. Division 2 best keeper awardee Steve Blake will also play a key role for the Nomads along with defender Randy Musters, who scored Nomads' first goal of the season. Navy, once a traditional powerhouse but suffered a 6-0 loss to Stallions FC in last week's season-opener, has failed to keep up with the other clubs' build up. — JVP, GMA News
