Under-21 football team coach resting after 3-day stay at NAIA for visa problem
Coach Zoran Djordjevic of the men’s junior national football team is finally resting in his own room at the Discovery Suites in Ortigas, Pasig City after spending three days at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Secretary General Ramon “Chito” Manuel confirmed to GMA News Online via text message that Djordvevic did have a visa problem and that they “are working on it” through proper channels. Immigration officials at the NAIA stopped Djordjevic from re-entering the country after they discovered that his visa—though valid until april 2012—was a single entry one when it was issued by the Philippines’ honorary consul in Belgrade. Coach Zoran had arrived March 5 from the Hassanal Bolkiah Football Tournament in Brunei where the Under-21 men’s team competed. The 60-year-old Serbian coach was admitted to the “Day Room” of NAIA Terminal 1 and stayed there until his release Thursday evening. — ELR, GMA News
