Saturday matches
(University of Makati)
2 p.m. Global vs Air Force
4 p.m. Kaya vs Stallion
Kaya battles dangerous Stallions at 4 p.m. Saturday at the University of Makati field hoping for a win that would extend its lead in the 2012 United Football League (UFL). The LBC-backed Kaya side shoots for its seventh win to remain three-points clear at the top of the league standings. Kaya, fresh from a 3-1 win over Nomads, will remain on top regardless of the outcome of the 2 p.m. contest between Global and Air Force. Air Force and Global—two sides that finished 1-2 in last season's league play—meet for the first time since the Airmen's 2-0 semis win in the UFL Cup. Chieffy Caligdong returns for Air Force after missing the Airmen's last three matches due to a knee injury. Ian Araneta has held the fort for Air Force during Caligdong's absence scoring five goals. Air Force, however, will expect a tough outing against Global's formidable attack line led by national team mainstays Angel Guirado and Misagh Bahadoran. Global, which also has Guirado's older brother Juani in its lineup, also beefed up its roster during the transfer window by acquiring twins Marwin and Marvin Angeles. Kaya welcomes leading scorer Eric Dagroh and defender Jason Sabio back into its lineup after both players sat out the team's last match. Dagroh missed the Pasargad match because of suspension while Sabio was sidelined by a knee injury. Stallion also added University of Santo Tomas striker OJ Clarino in the lineup during the transfer window. The Iloilo-based side is still awaiting the arrival of its prized Spanish recruit Rufo Sanchez, who used to play for CF Madrid in the Spanish fourth-tier. — JVP, GMA News
