Azkals rise two spots to 145 in FIFA Rankings

The Philippine national football team, also known as the Azkals, rose two spots in the FIFA World Rankings to climb to 145 in the standings.

The boost is derived mostly from the team's 1-0 friendly win over Myanmar last February 6 on foreign soil, just the first time they have won in that country.

The Azkals are now just two spots away from their best-ever ranking of 143, held in November 2012, entering the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers. They'll play Brunei (186), Cambodia (185) and Turkmenistan (140), starting March 22, with the benefit of the Philippines hosting the matches. - AMD, GMA News
