The Philippine national women's football team, the Malditas, crushed host country Bangladesh 4-0 on Saturday, at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, but failed to advance past the qualification stage of the 2014 AFC Women's Asian Cup.

Earlier in the day, Thailand made it a sweep of all three of its matches in Group B, the last game being a 5-1 affair against Iran, to move on to the next round.

The Philippines had bested Iran 6-0 in the opening game of the group, Tuesday, but lost to the Thais 1-0 on Thursday. Coupled with their win in this game, the Malditas were forced to settle for second in the group.

Versus Bangladesh, Marisa Park kicked things off with a scorer at the 19th minute, and then Cristina delos Reyes added a second via a header at the 30th.

The Malditas then continued the shut-out in the second half, with Cat Barnekow adding another score at the 85th minute, and Park making it a brace in extra-time.  - AMD, GMA News
