Azkals improve to record 141st place in FIFA rankings

The Philippine National men's football team, also known as the Azkals, improved to 141 in the FIFA rankings, its highest placing ever in the international football body's latest update, Thursday.

The Azkals moved up three places, but are still the second-best Southeast Asian team, behind Thailand, which only saw upwards movement, going up one place to 138.

Hong Kong, the team the Azkals most recently defeated, finished behind the Philippines at 144. Singapore is now 3rd in South East Asia at 155 while Vietnam dropped 11 places to 156.

Spain remains the world's top football country, while Japan, number 37, reigns overall in Asia.  - Roehl Niño Bautista/AMD, GMA News
