Azkals top Southeast Asia, move up to 137 in the FIFA rankings

The Philippine men's football national team continue to move up the FIFA rankings, achieving a rank in the 130's range for the first time in the country's history, by placing 137th in the October update.

The Azkals moved up four spots from 141 last month, while Thailand conversely dropped four spots to 143, which results in the Azkals topping the Southeast Asian ranks.

The improvement comes after the Philippines defended their Peace Cup title earlier in October, losing to Chinese-Taipei 2-1, but beating Pakistan 3-1.

Japan remains the top country in the AFC at 44th, despite going down two spots, while Spain stays atop the rankings, in front of Germany and Argentina. - AMD, GMA News
