The Philippine national Under-23 football team suffered its third straight defeat in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games football tournament, yielding a dispiriting 5-1 result to Myanmar on Sunday.

The loss ended the U-23 Azkals' chances in the tournament, which also saw them drop their matches against Singapore and Cambodia. The team was hoping to sweep its remaining assignments to have a shot at advancing to the semifinals.

The Philippines got off to a good start, taking the upper hand on a goal by Shirmar Felongco at the 17th minute. But Myanmar quickly equalized four minutes later, before scoring just before the halftime whistle to take a 2-1 lead at the break.

The dam broke for Myanmar completely in the second half, with goals from Ye Win Aung, Si Thu Aung, and Kyaw Zin Lwin putting the Philippines away completely.
