The Azkals had two points after draws in its first two outings, but needed to get a win to advance with Indonesia winning against Singapore, 2-1, in the night's other match.
Indonesia will join Thailand, which finished the group stage with a perfect record, in the semifinals of the tournament.
It was a disappointing finish for the Azkals, who had made the semis of the regional tournament in its past three editions. The team had hoped for a finals run in this competition as it hosted the group stage for the first time.
Instead, the Azkals are back to square one, with the future of coach Thomas Dooley in doubt. —JST, GMA News
