Azkals score 7-0 rout of Timor-Leste for first win in AFF Suzuki Cup 2020

The Philippine national men’s football team’s campaign just picked up after a rousing 7-0 victory over Timor-Leste in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020 on Saturday at the National Stadium in Singapore.

Seven different played found the back of the net as the Philippine Azkals notched its first win in Group A of the tournament following a 2-1 loss to host Singapore in their opening game last Wednesday.

Martin Steuble started things off for the Azkals, scoring in the 21st minute for the Filipinos. This was very quickly followed by goals from Amin Nazari and Angel Guirado.

And the Azkals continued to pour it on as Patrick Reichelt added a fourth goal in the 40th minute.

Before the first half could end, Jesper Nyholm headed in another goal and Bienve Marañon capped it with his first-ever goal for the Philippines to make it 6-0 going into the interval.

Kevin Ingreso scored the lone goal in the second half at the 78th minute.

The Philippines returns to the pitch on December 14 in a crucial match against Thailand.
